Rick is a wizard, a true genius not only for mixing music but also for energizing a celebration. If you’re looking for a DJ in Mammoth Lakes (or anywhere for that matter), we highly, highly recommend Rick. Several things stood out to us about working with Rick, but three were especially important.

First, Rick truly understands music and how it affects people. We were actually a bit concerned that our wedding party wouldn’t really be that into dancing on our wedding night. But Rick found ways to get everyone on their feet. People I’d never seen dance in my life were out on the dance floor having an amazing time.

Second, Rick is extremely creative and self-sufficient, but also attentive. We weren’t really sure what we needed in a DJ and did not have many specific goals music-wise ahead of our wedding. We provided a few genres, artists, and representative songs we liked, and Rick turned it into a set list with the perfect moods for the ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing. Where we had specific ideas, for example for ceremony music, Rick fit them in exquisitely. Basically, we spent exactly the energy and thought we wanted to on the wedding, and Rick filled in the rest without any extra stress for us.

Third, Rick’s pre-wedding process was excellent. We worked through a detailed music map that helped us brainstorm not only music, but also wedding day logistics, speeches dances, and general event flow.

Finally, Rick just rocks a person. He has this knack for being part of the day and bringing his enthusiastic personality without being intrusive. He perfectly reads the room and finds a way to fit seamlessly into the day—all the right jokes, pumping up the energy at the right times, and really doing justice to us as a couple. He was also eternally enthusiastic and supportive. We faced several challenges in planning our wedding, including COVID and forest closures/venue changes due to wildfires. Rick was cheerful and supportive throughout the process, providing a constant source of joy and optimism when we felt anxious about our wedding day happening. You are not going to find a better DJ.

DJ Freshtracks, hands down, was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. He is incredible. I can't count the number of people that came up to my wife and me during and after our wedding raving about Rick. One man firework show. Human highlight reel! Amazing at building a playlist and blending songs. He's a master of his craft. Secondly, he runs a tight process from start to finish and is extremely professional. Super organized and detail oriented. From the get-go, we met face-to-face nearly as soon as we booked him and had multiple calls to go over playlists, names of the bridal party, timeline and the overall game plan of our wedding day. What we really appreciated about DJ Freshtracks was his availability and open communication. It was obvious early on that establishing a relationship with us was very important to him. It was a big vote of confidence with all the other details and responsibilities that go into planning a wedding. We knew we were totally locked in with Rick. His energy is flat out amazing and he was as pumped for our wedding day as we were. Our wedding would not have been the same without him! I cannot recommend or speak highly enough of him. We love you Rick!

From the first "meeting" with DJ Rick on the phone, I knew I was going to vibe with him. My husband and I loved his fun, upbeat energy and his taste in music is super similar and varied just like ours is so it felt like a perfect match. We loved how easygoing his personality was and felt he would be a perfect fit for our wedding day- not to mention the awesome funky mixes he creates.
What stands out the most about DJ Rick, is that he felt like more than just a DJ. He truly helped set the bar for our wedding day in terms of the energy, level of excitement and keeping all our guests engaged. He really becomes a friend during the whole process and makes you feel that your day is special. We ended up having unexpected snow during our wedding ceremony and he was able to totally rock it and kept our guests pumped up with the fun, in the moment music he played.
He was an outstanding MC for our reception, again keeping everyone super pumped up, and the dance floor was on FIRE. The floor was literally shaking and was filled with people dancing the entire reception. We had many people absolutely rave about how great our DJ was and we simply could not have been happier with selecting DJ Rick.
From start to finish he was so fun to work with and he is incredibly passionate about what he does which truly shows in the work he does.

Very best dj! Above and beyond our expectations! I was ecstatic when he had our date open! From our first conversation, he made this experience SO much easier with his music mapping and plan of the day. We are from out of town, so when we came into town in January, Rick asked to meet with us and we talked for over an hour. He really tried to get to know us and you could tell he really wanted to feel our vibes and see our vision for our wedding. HE NAILED IT! He helped me find the song to dance to with my dad which and had multiple playlists to share when I needed help! Rick brings so much energy, happiness, and GREAT music for all guests! Our guests did not stop complimenting how amazing our DJ was. The dance floor was packed from the first song to the last! When our ceremony site had to be changed an hour before start time (due to wind), Rick acted like this had been the plan the entire time and never missed a beat! It made us not worry and we never questioned anything because Rick and the team had things completely under control. Our wedding day was absolutely perfect for us and Rick had a HUGE part in that. He's the type of person you feel like you've know for years. We will always be so grateful to have had him as a part of the biggest days of our life! I hope someday in our lives again we will need a DJ, Rick will be our guy.

Best. DJ. Ever. DJ Rick is not only a legend in Mammoth (I legitimately didn't book my venue until I confirmed he was available), but he's perhaps the best wedding DJ in the world. How do I know? 1) My very international guests could not stop talking about his fresh tracks, often asking "where did you find him?!" and 2) the entire evening culminated with everyone on the dance floor, jumping up and down and dancing like I had never seen them dance before (my husband included!). Thanks to DJ Rick, my wedding turned into a giant dance party and the best night of our lives. Beyond his insane spinning skills, Rick is hilarious, responsive, organized, thoughtful, and incredibly adaptable. He was an absolute pleasure to correspond with and incredibly timely in his responses. He had a clear plan of what songs we needed to choose for what parts of the day, he had an excellent strategy for managing energy flow throughout the many hours, and he was able to strike an incredible balance between generations of music and my husband's (country/coffeehouse) and my (hip hop/dance) varying tastes in music. We also rented a photo booth from him (I think this is a new business for Rick) and our guests seemed to love it! We never made it to the booth, though- too busy dancing. :) Rick provided all of the above at a great price. If DJ Rick is available, book him immediately. You will never regret it.

From the moment I heard Rick's voice on the phone I knew he was going to be perfect. High energy, positive vibe, and a great knowledge of all types of music - even the rarest of stuff. My wedding attendees and myself mostly hail from NYC and LA, and I was worried I would have trouble finding a musically savvy DJ. This was not an issue. We spoke on the phone, and then he sent me a music mapping outline, where I could include as much - or as little - as I wanted. He took this outline and not only did what I asked, but picked up my style and musical taste and made it even better. He was able to drop an exact moment of an exact song I wanted right after the first kiss, and all while standing outside in the middle of winter (yes, I had an outdoor winter wedding, and he still pulled it off for us). He met with us the day before the wedding, and made everything very personal. He really got to know us in that short time, and I can tell he did because his music literally blew my mind. He fed off the crowd hour to hour, he modified what he was playing as the night went on to fit the energy, and I got more questions about "where I flew my DJ in from" than imaginable! Besides the music, he kept our wedding on track and basically ran the whole thing - grand entrances, seating, first dances, introductions, speeches - he was a complete professional. As a group of people who REALLY take our music experiences seriously, everyone was impressed by him. I am not trying to boast about my own wedding, but I am pretty sure my wedding had the best music I have ever heard. And my guests agreed. Overall, if you have Rick as your DJ, it doesn't matter if the flowers are gorgeous, if the linens are white, or if the cake gets delivered - your wedding is going to be amazing, just like mine was. He truly was the key and most central element to what turned out to be the best day and night of my life. And I will always be thankful to him for that. The. Very. Best.

Rick is top notch the "BEST" and truly made our wedding the party we envisioned. From the first call we had I knew he was our guy. Rick is super responsive and goes above and beyond . We had our first meeting on the mountain snowboarding, Rick spent time getting to know us which gave him the opportunity to pick out a tracklist for our day that fit us perfectly. Everyone was raving about how great the music selection was and he kept the party going! I knew from the first phone call that I have with Rick that he was the man (dj) for the job. His positive and energetic personality had me feeling so great about choosing him for our wedding.

I am not a huge music person so picking songs was difficult for me. I let Rick know I was feeling a little lost and he jumped into action sending me playlists and song suggestions. He was almost like a second wedding planner. I am so appreciative of him.

I’m not a huge music person and not big into dancing either. I wanted to incorporate some other type of entertainment for our guest besides just dancing. We decided to do the shoe game. Rick sent me a list of really awesome questions he could ask us. We eventually added a really awesome final question which revealed to our guest that my now husband and I were expecting our first child. Something I will never forget and it was such an amazing way to let our closet friend and family in on our exciting news.

When it came to the reception our guest were blown away with his skills. He read our crowd perfectly and gave them exactly what they wanted. I think everyone would have stayed on the dance floor until the next day if we could. I am not a huge fan of dance (especially sober lol) so the fact that Rick had out there dancing my heart out says A LOT.

I could not recommend Fresh Tracks anymore. Book him and you will be soo happy that you did!

DJ Kunkel was THE BEST! From the ceremony to the last song of the reception, his attention to detail and energy was perfect! He got to know us and our vibe pre-wedding which made everything day-of very smooth. We have a very eclectic group of friends that are performers and theatre folk, so we had very specific cues we needed Rick to hit during the ceremony, maid of honor speech, reception, and a surprise performance at the end. He nailed everything flawlessly!! I doubt you'll be able to find a better DJ then him! 1000% recommend!!! So happy we chose him!

"We booked Rick as the DJ for our September 2015 wedding based on a referral.  We are so glad we went with him! In the months leading up to our wedding, Rick maintained consistent contact with us so that he could build us the perfect wedding playlist. We talked with him on a few occasions about what type of music we wanted him to play at during our cocktail hour and reception and what type of vibe we wanted our wedding to have. He always had great input and suggestions when we felt like we didn't know what to do.  By the time our wedding day arrived, we had changed our minds multiple times about what type of music we wanted him to play. Each time we changed our minds Rick was very accommodating and modified his playlist to reflect our new choices. 

On our wedding day, Rick far exceeded any expectations we had. He was fantastic! He played all of the songs we requested and did an excellent job of filling the space in between with the perfect mix of music.  Our favorite part of the night was when Rick obliged our request to play Reel Big Fish’s cover of “Take on Me” during the reception. Ska music has always been important to us and when Rick put that song on all of our friends hit the dance floor with us and we danced up a storm. Not only did we think Rick did an amazing job, but our friends and family couldn’t stop raving about how incredible he was.  Everyone loved the energy and enthusiasm he brought to our wedding and how well he interacted with our guests. The dance floor was packed the entire night because Rick did a phenomenal job of reading the energy in the room and always picking the right songs to keep the party going.

Not only did we have Rick DJ our cocktail hour and reception, but we also had him play some music at our ceremony as our guests were being seated.  We had two of our musically inclined friends play our processional music, but when it was time for them to play the recessional music our friends weren’t ready. No one noticed this, however, because Rick didn’t miss a beat and stepped in to save the day by playing Ray Lamontagne’s “You are the Best Thing”.

One thing people often overlook is how important it is to have a good MC for your wedding. Not only was Rick a wonderful DJ, but he did an excellent job of announcing us to our guests, making sure the transition from cocktail hour to dinner went smoothly, and introducing the people who gave speeches at our reception. 

We couldn’t recommend a better DJ/MC for a wedding, or any party for that matter, than Rick. He played a huge role in making our wedding day the success that it was. Thank you, Rick. You are awesome!"

We are extremely grateful for how great RGK2 Entertainment planned and performed for our wedding  this October. We were lucky to have met DJ Rick in person ahead time to discuss our personal tastes in music, what our goals were for the big day, and left confident that he was going to customize everything to us. He had great advice and suggestions when he ran short of ideas, and his high energy will leave you feeling positive and stoked nonetheless.

Of course, our ceremony was running a little behind and this guy improvised to keep things seamless. "My husband and I planned our wedding in Mammoth from out of town, on a rather tight schedule. We didn't have any recommendations for a dj, so I started calling from a list provided by our venue to see who was available. From my first conversation with Rick, I instantly trusted him and knew he would be a good fit for us. Rick's positive personality and strong music background helped make planning our wedding ceremony and reception music so much easier.   My husband and I live about 6hrs from Mammoth, and we didn't have much availability to come to town to plan our wedding. Rick readily worked with us over the phone and via email, and he also made time to meet with us on a quick visit to assure we had just the right mix of music (since my husband and I have differing tastes in music!). Rick offered awesome suggestions when we were unsure of how to build the mood/ atmosphere we wanted to create at our wedding, and he helped it turn out even better than I could have imagined!  Rick's positive energy, upbeat personality, and willingness to work with a variety of music created the perfect mix for our wedding. He helped me plan several details that I was unsure of, and assured that we had exactly the right music for all the special moments of the ceremony. We’re so happy we decided to hire a DJ for our small wedding, and Rick was a welcome addition to our day. Not only did he jump on board with less than 2 weeks to prepare, but he showed so much interest in our choice in music, doing his best to accommodate my playlist of classic rock and country and random eclectic songs. His enthusiasm and motivation to please us was both inspiring and appreciated. His sensitivity of being an “invisible” source of music at the ceremony, and his fun (and energetic) reception style was infectious to all. Although the dance floor was not always full,(mostly older crowd, early wedding) he still rocked it, all the same. He even chose a tie that matched our color scheme! (not sure how he figured that one) Thank you Rick for your creative, energetic style that enhanced our wedding celebration!

It was truly a pleasure to have you as the DJ for our wedding.  Things could not have fallen into place any better. 

Initially I had found a DJ that we were a bit on the fence about in regards to his questionable professionalism.  Jilana and I both agreed after dealing with him and his poor communication skills, we needed to find someone else, post haste!  This is the point when our situation turned for the best…You came into the picture!

 When it all comes down to it, you simply did exactly what we asked you to do.  We provided you with a Playlist/Do-Not-Playist, and a special playlist, aka the “mash-up," for the married couples amongst our group of 96 guests.  We were so pleased at your execution of the “mash-up.”  Thank you for tackling the task of gathering a large handful of love songs and mashing them up into one medley.  This not only shined a spotlight on the married couples, which we wanted, but it also kept the evening moving.  It prevented any dead space and was well received by everyone.  

 Your experience as a DJ shined throughout the day.  Particularly at the reception, you not only took musical requests from our guests, but you also made logical suggestions where appropriate based on your experience.  Even after Jilana and I had left for the evening, you kept the people dancing all night.  Our wedding ceremony and reception was a full day in which you were a huge part in making so much fun and truly successful.  You also added a charming and vibrant presence to boot.  

Overall, you planned, kept in contact with us, met us in person before the wedding to solidify things, and you perfectly executed, all in little time.  Also, due to unpredictable weather and the need to make last-minute changes, you were completely flexible and were able to add/omit things as necessary and do it in such a willing and effortless way.  You were easy to talk to, easy to work with, and you were always easily accessible.  Rick, from the bottom of our happily, newlywed hearts, THANK YOU SO MUCH!
